Buymates AI ("Buymates," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect information when you use the Buymates AI mobile application and related services.
Buymates AI is an AI shopping assistant app that helps users make shopping decisions through conversation. Users can ask shopping-related questions, receive AI-generated shopping advice, get product suggestions, review purchase considerations, save products for later review, and use voice, camera, or selected image upload features when available. When users choose to view external product pages, Buymates AI can provide links to third-party merchant websites or apps.
Signing in is optional. You can use the core shopping assistant features of Buymates AI without creating an account or signing in. Some account-related features require an account, such as keeping certain preferences, chat history, or saved products across devices.
Important Notice About Third-Party AI Processing
Buymates AI uses third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI and OpenRouter, to provide AI shopping advice, product suggestions, product review assistance, gift ideas, voice-related features, camera-based shopping analysis, selected image analysis, and related AI responses.
When you use AI features, the content you submit and related information is sent to these third-party AI service providers to generate the response or feature you request. This information can include:
Before any personal data is sent to third-party AI service providers for AI features, Buymates AI shows an in-app notice explaining what data is sent, who receives it, and why it is sent. You must tap Agree before using features that send your submitted content to third-party AI service providers. If you tap Not Now, Buymates AI will not send your submitted content to third-party AI service providers for those AI features, and you should not use features that require third-party AI processing.

When you use selected image upload features, Buymates AI only receives and processes the specific images you choose to upload. Buymates AI does not access your full photo library, does not browse your photo library, does not scan your photo library, and does not collect images that you do not choose to upload.
Images you choose to upload are used to provide the feature you request, such as analyzing product-related content, understanding a shopping item, or generating AI shopping advice based on the selected image.
Selected uploaded images are processed by Buymates AI and are sent to third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI and OpenRouter, when needed to provide the image-based AI feature you request.
Buymates AI requests access to your device camera only when you choose to use camera-based features.
Camera access is used to let you capture product-related information or other shopping-related content through the app. For example, you can use the camera to capture a product, label, package, or shopping-related item so the app can provide shopping-related analysis or suggestions.
Camera-captured content is processed by Buymates AI and is sent to third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI and OpenRouter, when needed to provide the camera-based AI feature you request.
We do not access your camera without your permission. You can manage camera permission at any time through your device settings.
Buymates AI requests access to your device microphone only when you choose to use voice input or voice conversation features.
Microphone access is used to let you speak to the app, submit voice-based shopping questions, or interact with voice-related features. Voice input is processed to understand your request and provide AI-powered shopping assistance.
Voice input content or transcribed voice content is processed by Buymates AI and is sent to third-party AI service providers, including OpenAI and OpenRouter, when needed to provide the voice-related AI feature you request.
We do not access your microphone without your permission. You can manage microphone permission at any time through your device settings.
